Telehealth Visits

Pediatric Rheumatology Consultants is now offering telehealth visits as another way to stay in contact with your child’s physician. The service allows existing patient families as well as new patients to get the care they need when they need it without coming to the clinic.

There are times it may be necessary to visit us in our offices so that Dr. Carrasco can properly evaluate your child. Our locations, including the infusion centers, are open for these in-person clinic visits.

To schedule a telehealth visit for your child, the process is simple and explained below.

How Telehealth Works

  • Step 1: Request a Telehealth Visit
Call us at (512) 494-4000 to schedule your telehealth appointment.
  • Step 2: Receive Visit Confirmation
You will receive an email or text message from “SecureVideo” that will confirm your telehealth visit.
  • Step 3: Download Zoom
Download the Zoom app on your smartphone, laptop, or other computerized device with video capabilities before your visit.
  • Step 4: Complete Online Paperwork and Payment
The email or text you received confirming your appointment should also contain a link to where you will provide your patient registration information online. This registration and prepayment for the appointment must be completed before you can access your telehealth visit. If you don’t receive a link within 24 hours of your appointment or if you have any questions, please contact us at (512) 494-4000.
  • Step 5: Attend Your Telehealth Visit
Follow the instructions provided for your virtual visit on the scheduled date and time.

Telehealth FAQs

Our telehealth service is an option we make available for all of our patients. That said, all our clinic locations remain open for those instances when an in-person visit is appropriate.

Telehealth appointments can occur anytime during our regular office hours, which are Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 5 pm.

Please be sure to schedule your telehealth appointments at least 24 hours in advance.

In general, most insurance plans – including Medicaid – will cover telehealth visits. We will verify your eligibility and benefits before your telehealth visit. Payment for your telehealth visit will need to be completed prior to your entry into the “virtual waiting room.”

We use a HIPAA-compliant platform, called SecureVideo, that offers an enhanced layer of security to ensure the privacy of patient health information. Although the visit is conducted via Zoom, patients are scheduled “inside” the SecureVideo platform, which helps to ensure your privacy.

Don’t worry. We can help. Please call our clinic at (512) 494-4000 if you have any questions related to downloading Zoom or otherwise preparing for your telehealth visit.
